During Our Lady's visit to St. Catherine Laboure on November 27, 1830, rays of light flowed from rings on her fingers that were made of precious stones. However, some of the stones on the ring did not shine. Mary explained: \"These rays symbolize the graces I shed upon those who ask for them. The gems from which rays do not fall are the graces for which souls forget to ask.\" Mary then spoke of the medal with these words: \"All who wear it will receive great graces; they should wear it around the neck. Graces will abound for persons who wear it with confidence.\" The medal is simply a visible sign of the inner devotion the wearer has to Mary and to her Son, Jesus. With approval of the Catholic Church, the first medals were made in 1832 and distributed in Paris. Only ten of the original medals are known to exist, and one of them is housed at the Miraculous Medal Shrine.
Each medal is handmade for you in the Holy Site of Lourdes. This medal is made by the official maker of the Miraculous Mary Medal for the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Paris, which is the exact location of the very first Miraculous Mary Medal ever made. In a revelation to St. Catherine of Labouré, Our Blessed Mother said that anyone who wore this medal would receive many miracles.
On the front of the medal around Mary, are the words, \"Ô Marie, conçue sans péché, priez pour nous qui avons recours à vous\" in French which translates to \"O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.\"
The Miraculous Medal (French: Médaille miraculeuse), also known as the Medal of Our Lady of Graces, is a devotional medal, the design of which was originated by Catherine Labouré following her apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary[2] in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal of Paris, France. It was made by goldsmith Adrien Vachette.[3]
As Catherine watched, the frame seemed to rotate, showing a circle of twelve stars, a large letter M surmounted by a cross, and the stylized Sacred Heart of Jesus crowned with thorns and Immaculate Heart of Mary pierced with a sword. Asked why some of the gems did not shed light, Mary reportedly replied, \"Those are the graces for which people forget to ask.\" Sister Catherine then heard the Virgin Mary ask her to take these images to her father confessor, telling him that they should be put on medallions, and saying \"All who wear them will receive great graces.\"[8]
Sister Catherine did so, and after two years of investigation and observation of Catherine's ordinary daily behavior, the priest took the information to his archbishop without revealing Catherine's identity. The request was approved and medallions were designed and produced through goldsmith Adrien Vachette.[9][10]
I have been looking for a miraculous medal bracelet for awhile and knew the moment that I saw it, that this was the one. It is even more beautiful in person and surprisingly lightweight on my wrist. I immediately got it blessed and have been wearing it with great joy. Thank you for this amazing piece.
The bracelet is absolutely perfect. It fits my wrist to a tee. The gold medal is stunning and the design with its quality and simplicity of the delicate yet strong stretch beading perfectly showcases Our Lady. I love to gaze at her image on my wrist and pray for her intercession. 59ce067264
